Weller Court

Weller Court has been around for many years and it has a variety of stores, markets, and restaurants. The second floor would usually be known for food and they have many restaurants that are famous for there dishes. For example the Curry House for there delicious Curry that they serve all the time. I enjoy going to Weller Court for multiple reasons and for the restaurants that is a great addition to it.

Bunka-do

Bunka-do is located in the heart of Little Tokyo and they have been around since 1945. There is establishment is known as the house of culture. They mostly have Japanese nic naks there but the old look to it usually catches many peoples attention and due to that its been hanging on. I love Bunka-do since my dad does know the people who work there and I have been going there since I was little so its always been a family favorite store.

Tokyo Japanese Outlet

The Tokyo Japanese Outlet has been recently put there since for many years a lot of businesses that were located there has been closing down but for now the Tokyo Japanese Outlet has been doing well. They usually have Japanese items that are really interesting to buy. So I really like going in there to see all there new items whenever I go.

Marukai Market

In 2006 Marukai Market has been relocated in the inside of Weller Court. Marukai is usually known for there diverse items of Japanese food and items. I enjoy going there since they provide basically everything and it gives me a taste of how Japanese markets in Japan are.

Jungle Collectors Shop

The Jungle is known for there animation and there Japanese TV collectible items that cater to anime lovers. I don't usually go to buy things in there since I don't have much interest in anime. But it is interesting to see all the items they have and to look at the many movies they provide. The people there are really friendly so it is a good place to go to, to get the Japanese culture in books and in movies.

Replicated food on display

In multiple Japanese restaurants all over Little Tokyo usually has a display of fake food to show what kind of food they provide. Most of the times they show there main dish or sushi to catch everyones attention. I usually stop and look before passing by and sometimes I do stop and eat since the food on display is so captivating.

Kinokuniya Bookstore

The Kinokuniya Bookstore is placed in Weller Court it has been for many years. This Japanese bookstore has around 80 stores in Japan and overseas. I enjoy coming here since they have a variety of books and magazines that adds a Japanese taste to it all.

Mikawaya

Mikawaya is located in the Japanese Plaza that has been around since 1910 they have the traditional Japanese pastries. They have been successful ever since the maker Mikawa brought the establishment and named the shop after herself and by adding the ya they got there name the ya means store. The shop established in Little Tokyo was put there because of Ryuzaburo Hashimoto since he bought the company. Mikawaya is such an amazing place to get mochi since they have it all it is truly an amazing place to go to, to get mochi.

Fugetsudo

Fugetsudo has been there standing strong for about 100 years they are usually known as a sweet shop but they are mostly famous for there manju or mochi. The owner now Brian Kito took over the family business   and is spreading the history of his family business all over Little Tokyo. Since he had a play about his family business that I attended. I enjoy his sweets and I not only know him for his business but he is also a family friend that has been in my life for many years. He is a successful man that is spreading his family life all over.

The Japanese Garden

The Japanese Garden has been there for many years and has been open to the public and to the people who  check into the Otani Hotel. Its a serene area and a promoter of the Japanese culture.

Ellison Onizuka Monument

The Ellison Onizuka Monument is placed in Weller Court to honor Ellison Shoji Onizuka. Ellison was the first asian american to successfully make it into space before he lost his life due to all the destruction of the  Space Shuttle Challenger. I believe it is a great thing how we made a monument for Ellison because he did so much and he should be rewarded for what he did.

Yagura

Is the tower put right in the middle of the Japanese Village Plaza, It was made in 1983 as a replica of the fire lookout tower in Japan. This tower has been constructed into something new since there was an older Yagura tower until recently they constructed a brand new one. I dislike how they made a new one since it takes away the effect of the Yagura tower being there for many years.
